The Movement

"Revisiting the Passed" is an effort to bring us back to the original vision in mind for rural cemeteries: places to be visited and appreciated. As students of Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, NY, we saw the lack of knowledge and interest about the rural cemetery right next to our campus and decided to counter that. This movement is intended to combat the common stigma that cemeteries are dark, haunted, and should be avoided. Instead, we want to stimulate interest and involvement.

Rural cemeteries were originally created to be memorial parks that people could walk through while sharing stories and appreciating the history and the scenery. This blog is to encourage our generation to use Summer 2014 to visit at least one rural cemetery, and potentially, share a story or picture from the experience.
